WHAT COURSES ARE BEING OFFERED?
Students enjoy a mix of formal and non-formal training. The subject areas of culture/language acquisition, cross-cultural communication and pioneer church planting are core to the program, and are supported by an important emphasis on spiritual growth, discipline and character development.
Language Acquisition – We train students to understand principles of phonology, grammar, vocabulary and discourse; to use applied phonetics and phonemics; and to apply basic principles of translation and literacy. Our students understand the commitment necessary to learn a new language and are given the tools to learn both written and unwritten languages.
Culture Acquisition – We train students to apply practical anthropology, conduct ethnographic interviews, and identify the values, themes and worldview of the target culture. We also train them to communicate the Gospel in a way that is at the same time culturally relevant and biblically accurate.
Church Planting – Our students learn the stages of church planting — from initial contact with a community, to appropriate forms of evangelism, to discipleship and leadership training, to developing a well-defined exit strategy.
Biblical Foundations – The Biblical Foundations course is designed to explore God’s Narrative and to learn to communicate God’s Narrative in a way that clearly highlights the essential biblical themes that help people see the importance of the Perfect Substitute of Jesus Christ. We discuss those core themes as we make our way from Creation to the Ascension.
Character Development – We are very intentional in the way we’ve designed the Radius training program, seeking to provide an environment that maximizes our students’ growth in areas of emotional toughness, relational resilience and personal discipline. Being located in Mexico provides an excellent context for learning how to deal with the stress of being the outsider. We also have some strategically designed “stressors” that help our students develop field-readiness. Our mentoring program supports the students in all areas of growth and development as they learn and prepare themselves for the challenges of reaching unreached people.
WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
We are looking for people who are already committed to long-term pioneer church planting among an unreached people group. They need the spiritual, relational, emotional, and moral maturity and the physical stamina to be able to survive the rigors of cross-cultural living. They need to be involved in their local church and approved by their local church as “missions candidates in training.” They also need to have manageable debt.
DO YOU ALLOW PEOPLE TO VISIT CAMPUS?
Yes! We encourage everyone to visit one of our campuses in Mexico. Just click HERE for more details.
