Serve With Us

Short-Term Staff

Radius is currently looking for childcare workers who we call short-term-staff (STS). We are asking God for young women who love Jesus, and who enjoy working with children, to serve the student and staff families. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in God’s plan to reach the world by enabling parents to focus on their training by taking care of their children while they are in class! In addition, short-term staff will also learn more about God’s heart for the nations, the Spanish language and the Mexican culture.

“Overall, I have learned so much being here and serving, whether it be learning how to better love and communicate with children, practical day to day things, or character issues that the Lord kindly points out to me or brings up in different situations on campus. Being here has helped me grow in my walk with the Lord while serving this campus.”  – Meg

What Does the STS Do?

  • Radius short-term staff volunteers will care for children during class hours (M-F, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm), with some occasional “as needed” childcare during afternoons, evenings and weekends. She will also prepare for the day’s activities with the children, help facilitate parent-led homeschool assignments, and maintain and clean the childcare areas. Other responsibilities may involve helping with evening and weekend meals, upkeep of guest rooms and assisting with hosting visitors, along with other occasional tasks and opportunities.
  • For short-term staff, a one-year commitment is preferred (July-June). We will consider 5-18 month commitments. Radius students and short-term staff will have a break from mid June to mid July & mid Dec to mid Jan.
  • As a support-based ministry, Radius staff raises support to cover their living and ministry expenses. We ask that our short-term staff contribute $500 a month ($5000 for the year), which can be a lump sum or broken into monthly payments. If this amount is a barrier for you, please inquire about potential scholarship funds. In addition, she will need money for personal expenses, such as transportation, health care (Radius does not provide health insurance), entertainment, etc.
  • Short-term staff live on campus in a dorm room with roommates.
  • The daily work schedule is somewhat flexible, so STS may complete online college or Bible courses while at Radius. In addition, Radius may recommend specific reading or “assignments” as part of our discipleship care for short-term staff. This will be arranged on an individual basis and we anticipate this will be a valuable component of the time spent on our campus. Also, when possible, short-term staff will be encouraged to sit in on classes to learn more about church-planting among unreached people. STS often have the opportunity to accompany students or staff on cultural outings.
  • Short-term staff will need to complete a background check, as well as a CPR and first aid course.
  • Short-term staff will arrive a few days before the semester begins for orientation and team prep, and they will need to pay their own travel expense to and from our campus.

” If a single girl wants to learn more about the Gospel, missions and her role in it, experience living cross-culturally, be discipled in community, and grow closer to the Lord through serving His workers, there’s no better way to do so. Giving a year of your time and energy to serve people who are about to give their entire lives is the most humbling and rewarding experience. I would encourage any sister in Christ to come and be a part of the work God is doing to make His name known around the world. ”  – Kieca
